Meet Danny. The Man Behind the Menu at Drifters

Danny grew up on the bayou, learning from the best- his great-grandmother, grandfather, grandmother and mother- who taught him the roots of Creole and Cajun cuisine. But life had more coastlines to explore, and from Alabama to California, Florida to Costa Rica, he skated, surfed, sailed and soaked in the flavors of each place. His early 20s took him to California, where he trained in sushi, and soon after, he packed up his knowledge (along with some surfboards and a backpack) and made Costa Rica home.

That’s where his love for food turned into something bigger. Over the years, Danny has developed restaurant concepts ranging from Caribbean-inspired tropical flavors to a rock n’ roll sushi hotspot, a gourmet sandwich scene, a microbrewery with fresh bar bites, and a wine bar called Graffiti- with ever-changing blackboard specials, an eclectic urban art backdrop, and good tunes.

Now he's bringing that same heart and creativity to Drifters-a small, local spot serving up gourmet sushi and fresh coastal inspired dishes. Drifters is a reflection of Danny's lifelong love for surfing, the sea, and laid back, meaningful moments shared over good food.
